BOSCC Info Leaflet

The club meets every Tuesday from 7.00 pm to 9.15 pm in the BAY Centre, Cassis Close, Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset, TA8 1NN. The doors open at 6.45 pm. Activities will start at 7.15 pm and finish at 9.15 pm. There is free parking with disabled access and free Wi-Fi

From the beginning of September through to mid-July the club runs a full programme.  Meetings take a variety of forms, with visiting speakers, regular competition nights, photoshoots (both indoors & outdoors), practical evenings, and members sharing their own interests and skills.  We meet on an ad-hoc basis during the summer holidays for social purposes and activities, usually, photoshoots in surrounding areas. We hold an annual exhibition in July and every member is encouraged to exhibit.

The club has an annual subscription of £15.00 and nightly subscriptions of £2.50. At the last General Meeting, it was agreed to raise the annual subscription to £15.00 because of the increasing costs of external judges and speakers. The annual subscription covers the period from January - December.

New members are asked to fill out a membership form. Any personal details like name or email are optional. There are a number of tick boxes asking for optional consents covering whether your photos can be viewed by other members and judges.

The club has 4 websites, one public website at www.boscc.org.uk, 1 Facebook site & 2 Flickr sites.
The www.boscc.org.uk website contains copies of the club’s rules, the club’s Constitution & the club’s Privacy Policy, which can be found under the ‘Docs’ menu.  The ‘Help’ menu has a number of training videos for photo processing software like Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.. The website menu also has 3 icons that link to the club’s Facebook and 2 Flickr sites.

Competitions

Competitions are held regularly (monthly where possible) and are open to all paid up members.  Most competitions are judged by external judges.  Fun competitions and challenges are judged within the club.  For externally judged competitions entries are due in a fortnight before or as decided by the competition organiser. We run both digital and printed image competitions.

Digital Image Competitions
Up to 3 images may be submitted for digital competitions.  Images must be JPEG files. The filename should be the image title and membership number. Digital entries can be sent to the Secretary on secboscc@bayc.co.uk or brought along on a Tuesday evening to be transferred by either Jan or John.

Printed Image Competitions
Up to 3 pictures may be submitted for each competition. Pictures are to be up to a maximum size of A3 and mounted on a 40 cm x 50 cm mount board. The colour of the mount board is at the discretion of the member themselves. The name of the image and the owner’s membership number should be on the back of the mount.

DPIC
DPIC (Digital Projected Image Competition) is an inter-club competition held by WCPF (Western Counties Photographic Federation). It usually takes place in Exeter early February. Each club can enter 18 images (with a maximum of 4 images per owner being allowed to go forward). We have a panel of 5 members who pick the 18 images to go forward. Up to six digital images may be submitted to the panel be considered for DPIC. They should be JPEG files with a filename consisting of the image title plus the owner's membership number.

Before the images are sent to WCPF they have to be resized. Owners may resize them themselves before handing them to Jan or let our panel resize them. The Images must be a maximum format of 1600 pixels (wide) x 1200 pixels (high), so portrait images should be no more than 1200 pixels high.
